AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson is giving a keynote at NXTComm — no-one is surprised that he’s talking about the iPhone. He gave some details of how AT&T is gearing up for the launch in 10 days, and “added that around one million enquiries about the iPhone have been received on the AT&T Wireless site, with some 40 percent coming from non-AT&T subscribers” reports ZDNet. This is important, since AT&T is getting very little out of the iPhone deal except prestige. It is banking on the handset attracting new customers to the telco. On this topic, M:Metrics has released the results of a survey showing that “19 million Americans have shown strong interest in purchasing the device” and that “Of the people surveyed, 67 percent of those who were most inclined to purchase an iPhone are subscribers on other carrier networks”, reports Network World. The British are also keen, reports Silicon.
