Sivaji Monotones Hit 50,000 Downloads On First Day

The success of Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth’s recent film Sivaji has meant paydirt for AVM Productions on the mobile and the Internet as well (apart from the on-ground mass hysteria), reports the Economic Times: apparently the monotones received 50,000 downloads on the first day, and 200,000 in the first week. Hungama Mobile, which has mobile rights for the movie, also created mobile games, picture books and calendars on the movie. Hungama claims that their servers crashed three million times in the first two hours of the music launch. The content has been made available in 33 countries (Rajinikanth is immensely popular in Japan). Audio from the movie was made available on iTunes as well.
I wonder how soon before they release the movie for download (DRM protected, of course) on the Internet. Pirated copies of both the movie and audio are already available online via torrents (P2P).
