If Gizmodo’s tipster is correct, T-Mobile will launch their Hotspot @Home UMA service by the end of the month here in the U.S. We’ve covered UMA or Unlicensed Mobile Access before, but in case you missed it, the phone service uses your home WiFi for calls around the house or hotspots and seamlessly switches the call to traditional cellular service when you roam away from WiFi.
Hopefully, T-Mo has worked out the kinks from any early beta tests and provides some good phone offerings. Last we checked there were very few handsets that were UMA capable. Maybe after the launch of Hotspot @Home we’ll see a true 3G solution from T-Mo next? Actually, I just realized that Starbucks is about to get a whole lot louder….
