German mobile TV provider MFD Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland GmbH has announced (via a German language email release) that South African media and technology group Naspers Limited has made a “strategic investment” in the company. No further details were disclosed, but the company tells me Naspers has a minority stake in MFD. The company’s other shareholders – Grazia Equity, J2 and Ammax – will retain minority holdings.
MFD says the investment will allow it to expand its mobile TV services. Another boost will come from Naspers’ know-how. The MIH Group, a subsidiary of Naspers, manages media subsidiaries and has interests in pay TV channels and Internet services, as well as the Group
