FinchSync connects your Windows Mobile handheld to Mozilla apps

Finchsync

One of the main reasons I’ve continued to use Microsoft Office apps is because of the synchronization support on Windows Mobile devices. Aside from ActiveSync issues along the way, I’ve had current PIM data on my handheld since I started with Windows CE 2.11 back at the turn of the century. Did I really just say that out loud?

Anyway, I saw Pocket PC Thoughts pick up on a synchronization tool for the open sourced Mozilla apps like Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird. FinchSync is a work-in-progress beta, but after reading the several pages of documentation, it definitely shows promise for Windows Mobile owners that prefer the Mozilla productivity apps. The added benefit here is that FinchSync works cross-platform using Java, so it runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. If you’re a fan of the Mozilla products and want to get your contacts, e-mail, calendar items and tasks on WinMo handheld, this might be worth a look although I’m unsure if the project is still active.
