Fox Soccer Signs Three-Year Online, Mobile Deal With Premier League

No details on the terms but Fox Soccer adds exclusive U.S. web and mobile rights to Barclay’s Premier League football for the next three seasons beginning this August; it already has the broadcast package, including rights to distribute full matches online and via mobile devices. The package includes highlights of all BPL matches, a weekend roundup and weekly packages. Mobile includes “in-match” highlights of on-going games “in near-real time.” Other details:

— Online highlights will be on foxsoccer.com on MSN but the network says it also is negotiating additional online and mobile syndication.

— The deal includes Spanish-language internet and mobile rights for sister nets Fox Sports en EspaƱol in the U.S. and Fox Sports Latin America throughout the Spanish-speaking Americas.

MCN: Fox Soccer EVP/GM David Sternberg said the network wants to wotk with other portals, including cable operators’ sites. On the mobile side, he said talks have started with the majors and with some MVNOs.
