Episodic Gaming Developer Telltale Closes $6 Million Second Round

Interactive entertainment company Telltale has secured $6 million in second round funding. Granite Ventures led the round, with IDG Ventures SF also participating. Telltale plans to use the financing to promote its existing and new episodic games series. It also wants to make some new hires and enhance the hardware of its games platform. Previously, the two-year-old San Rafael, CA-based startup raised $1.4 million in seed funding. It also received an $825,000 bridge note from the Keiretsu Forum and others last March, which is being counted as part of the second round, a spokeswoman said. The company closed a $590,000 first round funding soon after the company was started. The company’s best known product is Sam & Max, a six-episode game series that launched last fall and had monthly releases through May. Release
