Close on the heels of the launch of online digital advertising network DGM, agencyfaqs reports that US based Paypod has been testing its ad network with Webdunia as the publisher. Paypod has plans for launching an online marketplace for both Internet and Mobile ads. Mobile ads will include video and banner ads. Apparently, the company is in talks with Mobile2Win and Bugzy, as well as Reliance. The Reliance angle doesn’t surprise me – Paypod was the company that launched online cricket based social network CrickeM, which had tied up with Reliance World as its broadband partner. CrickeM was then rechristened CricTV.
Sure is getting crowded in the online networks space: Komli has received funding from DFJ and Helion Ventures; Smile Interactive has Tyroo, a network that recently hit 1000 publishers…having online ad agency Quasar as a sister concern must help; dgm India launched yesterday. I guess publishers are spoilt for choice. (And let’s not forget Google Adwords)
