Frustrated with the proliferation of pirated versions of its products, Adobe Systems, the $2.6 billion San Jose-based desktop publishing software company, wants the Indian government to create an anti-piracy regulatory body for a faster redressal system with a country-wide campaign to spread awareness, reports the Financial Express. For every Adobe product, there are 8 to 9 pirated copies in India, according to Sandeep Mehrotra, the country sales manager of Adobe. He added that piracy in India has reduced by only one percentage point in the last one year and one way to speed things up would be to create a separate government body.
Nikhil adds: Is the issue of piracy one of speedy delivery of justice, or first – one of enforcement? As Chander M Lall, legal counsel for the MPA points out in this interview with the Economic Times, authorities are aware of piracy, but nobody does anything.
