Hungary: Antenna Hungária and T-Mobile Hungaria have announced the successful completion of a DVB-H trial which broadcast four public service channels: m1, m2, Duna Tv and Duna 2 Autonómia. “Technical testing is planned to be followed by the so-called “friendly user” stage, in which the experiences of the users will be collected and analysed, then it will become possible to define the possible user needs relying on this information”, reports Portfolio. The article also notes that a commercial launch of the service will require appropriate legislation and spectrum.
Jersey Telecom DVB-SH Service: Jersey Telecom has announced it has teamed up with Alcatel to trial a DVB-SH service later this year. Jersey is a little island in the English channel with a population just over 90,000, but as far as I’m aware this is the first planned deployment of DVB-SH technology outside of France.
Mobile TV services are also touted as one of the top ten non-voice services for operators by research group Analysys. 3‘s 3G streaming TV service in the UK and DVB-H service in Italy make the list, along with other content services such as KDDI’s EZ Chaku-uta Full music downloading service and SK Telecom
