ZDNet India is launching a technology jobs search engine. The site isn’t linked to yet from the main page, but is live, here.
The jobs search has been powered by Hong Kong based job search engine Recruit.net, which had launched its India search engine late last year. It aggregates jobs both from company websites and job portals (including market leader Naukri, and others like careerage), and has incorporated both email alerts and RSS feeds for specific search queries. I don’t think this bodes well for Cybermedia’s tech job portal – Cybermedia Dice. It also features sponsored jobs, much like Recruit.net. The site has advertisements and links to ZDNet India content.
Readers will remember that Naukri had taken job search engine Bixee (which was later acquired by MIH India) to court. I had asked Naukri CEO Sanjeev Bikhchandani about that case; he said that Bixee was initially aggregating content without Naukri’s knowledge, and had not responded to initial emails. So Naukri sent them a court order by email, after which Bixee contacted them. The only issue for Naukri was that they should know who is aggregating the content and there should be an agreement between the two companies. Bikhchandani had said that there’s no revenue sharing deal with Bixee.
