Malaysian telco Maxis has teamed up with Filipino telco Globe Telecom to give people an easy way to wire money between the two operators (or wire money from Maxis to Globe, since the target market is Filipino’s working in Malaysia), with a new service dubbed M-money. “Under the system, Maxis customers can wire up to 500 ringgit ($143) per transaction to Globe subscribers in the Philippines, who can retrieve the money at Globe’s 6,000 outlets,” reports AP. It costs five ringgit ($1.47) for the transaction, which is reportedly less than half what the bank charges. Maxis plans to extend the service to Indonesia next month.
