Game Companies Agree To Launch Games On Operators Simultaneously

Four major mobile game companies — EA, Gameloft, Glu and I-play — have agreed to release their games across all UK operators on the same day. The deal was brokered by the UK video games industry trade body ELSPA (Entertainment Leisure Software Publishers Association), and aims to grow the mobile game market by replicating the retail model rather than have games released on an ad-hoc basis, reports Mobile Entertainment. “Four games; Glu Mobile’s Tranformers, Gameloft’s Guitar Legend, EA Mobile’s FIFA 08 and a fourth yet to be announced title will each be published simultaneously on 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone in June, July, August and September.”

In other gaming news, online gaming giant PopCap Games has launched its first internally developed mobile title, Chuzzle, reports RCR News. It had previously partnered for mobile games, for example the mobile version of its game Bejewelled was developed by EA Mobile. Vivendi has also announced it will soon launch Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail, bringing the classic wanna-be love-stud to mobile.
