Zapak sees Rs. 40 crore in 2007-08 gaming revenues

Gaming portal Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd. is targeting revenues of Rs 40 crore for fiscal 2007-08, 40 times 2006-2007’s revenues of Rs 1 crore following its November 2006 launch, reports Business Standard
The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s venture expects revenues to get a boost from its gaming site Zapak.com and its upcoming Zapak Gaming Zones. What about profits? The article offers no insight into whether or when the site will be in the black. I wonder when Reliance companies will divulge more about their profits besides providing revenue details.

Nikhil adds: While the company regularly claims a huge number of hits for the portal – I wonder whether the distribution of traffic across a large number of games is going against Zapak. Yet, Zapak plans to launch a new game every day. So far, I haven’t seen much in-game advertising (Logitech for Air Hockey and Fastrack for Smiley Chomp) – mostly banner ads and pre-game ad rolls. Banner ads, we’ve learnt, are priced at a CPM of around Rs. 150. Has the Cricket game found any takers?
