MTNL has launched its convergent voice SMS service in Delhi, enabling its fixed line and mobile subscribers to send voice SMS to other fixed and mobile phones, according to their release. The state-owned telephone operator’s service is based upon a patented “Voice SMS” technology from New Jersey-based mobile value added services provider, Kirusa. Service users will shell out Re. 1 per minute to send, forward or reply to a Voice SMS message. While listening to a message for the first time will cost nothing, subscribers will have to pay Re. 1 for replaying the message. Next in line are MTNL’s Mumbai subscribers.
