Bluetooth device brings digital world to hearing impaired

Oticon_epoq_streamerThis was a nice FCC find this morning and it led me to an interesting company called Oticon. Oticon makes devices that help with the hearing impaired. Don’t think they’re just another hearing aid company because I looked through the user manual of their new Epoq Streamer shown and walked away very impressed. The Streamer is a small Bluetooth device about the size of an iPod nano but perhaps double the thickness. Worn around the neck, the Streamer acts as an interface for Bluetooth enabled phones and digital audio players. Sound from those devices is streamed by the Streamer to compatible Oticon hearing aids, enabling hard of hearing folks to participate in our digital world. There’s also a microphone in the top of the Epoq Streamer to enable the full hands-free calling experience.
