Studio 18 ties up with Virgin Comics

Studio18, which will be a part of TV18’s joint venture with Viacom, has inked a deal with Virgin Comics for graphic novels, movies and games based around teen horror, reports the Economic Times. Around Rs. 100-150 crore will be spent by the combine to produce around 10 movies. The first graphic novel is expected by end 2007. Virgin Comics is a JV between author Deepak Chopra, British billionaire Richard Branson and film-maker Shekhar Kapur. Their model is to create graphic novels and then monetize that content with films, games, animation, mobile comics, movies etc. They recently signed up cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for a comic based on him.
