Germany’s Deutsche Telekom is keen to buy Orange Netherlands from its parent company France Telecom, reports Reuters. Orange Netherlands has been valued at around 1.6 billion euros (US$2.15 billion) and is the fourth largest operator in the country — Deutsche Telekom currently owns the fourth largest operator. DT has a few competitors in the bidding (such as a private equity consortium led by Providence Equity Partners) but also has an ace-up-the-sleeve in the form of Spanish Internet provider Ya.com, which it put up for sale a few months ago and which France Telecom is interested in buying. Ya.com has been valued at around 500 million euros, and it appears a swap is being negotiated as part of a deal.
