Rooftop Media, an online purveyor of stand-up comedy videos, has raised $2.5 million in a first round led by Azure Capital Partners, Venturebeat reports. The San Francisco-based company says its main site, RooftopComedy.com, has roughly 4,200 videos, which generally run from a few seconds to about two minutes in length, and features 1,200 comics. While Rooftop partners with comedy clubs featuring the performers on the site, it uses its own recording equipment, and then streams the acts live. Rooftop also has several syndication deals with online sites and mobile carriers.
