UK Yellow Pages group Yell saw revenue for the year to March 31 jump 28 percent to £2 ($3.9) billion (profit up 18.4 percent to £276.6 ($546) million), largely thanks to the success of its Yell.com online search directory. UK revenue grew three percent to £719.9 million ($1.4 billion) thanks “entirely” to a 61 percent revenue growth from Yell.com, more than offsetting a 3.1 percent dip in print advertising customers. It serviced 33 million searches this March – one million more than the same month last year.
The company publishes the Yellow Pages directory and operates a telephone directory service. Within its US Yellow Book operation, the YellowBook.com‘s revenue rose 62.4 percent to $68.7 million as unique users grew to 6.1 million from 2.4 million, but the site faces increased competition.
