Mesh networks for the wireless masses, courtesy of Meraki

Meraki_outdoor_wifi_repeaterThese indoor and outdoor repeaters from Meraki have me thinking of pitching a WiFi mesh network to the neighbs in my development. The $49 indoor units are fairly small: roughly the size of a deck of playing cards. The outdoor units are double the size and double the price at $99 but provide a range boost of 300- to 750-feet for your 802.11b/g signal. Meraki also offers a slick bit of Dashboard software for your mesh network which allows you to view your network topology on a Google map, monitor bandwidth and control network access. Hmm….when is my next Homeowners Association meeting again?
