Bharatmatrimony Goes Mobile With Voice Based Services

Matrimonial services providers Bharatmatrimony has launched “Voice Matrimony”, a mobile service that allows users to send and receive voice messages from prospects. Initially the service has been launched on Airtel, at 505050.
Interestingly, the sevice is available only to registered Bharatmatrimony users (although they do have 15 matrimonial sites), so it’s a value-add, rather than a means for reaching out to customers without Internet access. What is not metioned in the release is that only paid members can send voice messages to others. This initiative also allows them to validate mobile numbers. The service has been provided in collaboration with Onmobile.
I’m just wondering how a pure voice based mobile service with no additional Internet/WAP site would work. Too tedious for the consumer, I guess.
