Motorola has announced it is buying privately held Modulus Video for an undisclosed sum, with the deal expected to close in the second or third quarter. “Modulus Video develops advanced video coding compression systems that are used to deliver video over Internet Protocol TV as well as cable, broadcast and satellite television”, writes Canada.com. Motorola is banking on new “movie handsets” to regain marketshare.
