More evidence that Susan Decker is being groomed as potential CEO: Yahoo has named Blake Jorgensen, the co-founder of San Francisco investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners, to succeed her as CFO. Jorgensen will take the post on Monday, June 4. Decker was promoted in December to head Yahoo’s advertiser and publisher group. In his new role, Jorgensen will oversee Yahoo’s finance, investor relations and the M&A groups. He will report directly to Yahoo Terry Semel, who said in a statement that he expects Jorgensen will help Yahoo identify “emerging opportunities.” Semel also noted that the appointment will free Decker up to concentrate on managing its Panama online ad system on the company’s recent purchase of ad exchange Right Media.
Before helping establish Thomas Weisel Partners 1998 where he served as COO starting in 2002, and was mostly recently co-director of investment banking, Jorgensen was a managing director and principal at the corporate finance department of Montgomery Securities. Release
