IAC To Launch Its Mobile Search/Location Service on SprintNextel

IAC is launching a new mobile service using its Ask.com search brand: it is called Ask Mobile GPS, on Sprint Nextel and will combine services like Citysearch, Ticketmaster, Evite and Ask.com with GPS, reports WSJ. The app will allow subscribers to send their physical location to friends (sounds a bit like Helio’s BuddyBeacon function, only in this case Sprint has infinitely more subscribers to play around with). The app, expected to cost around $9 a month, will also allow users to search for local businesses and concert tickets.

Sprint has a few GPS based services working already, including Sprint Family Locator and Sprint Navigation. Some more info in this Reuters story.
