Round-Up: Comic Creator On Verizon; Rok VOD; Sony Games

–Verizon Wireless has launched Comic Creator by AMA on its Get It Now channel. The application allows people to create their own personalized comics using various characters (robot, panda, martian, monster etc) and send them to other phone numbers or e-mail addresses. The characters get updated, especially during special times such as Easter or Mothers Day. It costs $3.99 per month to send up to 20 comics to mobile handsets and an unlimited number of comics to e-mail recipients. AMA is the publisher — the app was created by Longtail Studios which I spoke to last year.

–Rok Entertainment Group has launched a video-on-demand mobile TV service that works over GPRS. It’s aimed at people who already have a good data plan…the service is sold in the UK for one pound (US$2) a channel.

Sony Pictures Television has announced the mobile games it will launch during 2007 — Spiderman 3, Spiderman Puzzle, God of War: Betrayal, Jeopardy 2007, Jump That Car and Snoop Dogg Cruisin’.

–Starhub Singapore has signed a deal with Kamera to put is Vidiots channel (6,000 home video bloopers) on its 3G service. Starhub is the second-largest mobile operator in Singapore, and the Vidiots channel is already on competitor SingTel.
