UMG Promotes Caraeff To EVP of eLabs

Universal Music Group has promoted Rio Caraeff — formerly Vice President & General Manager of Universal Music Mobile — to Executive Vice President of eLabs/General Manager of Universal Music Mobile (UMM). Caraeff will continue to report to Zach Horowitz, President & Chief Operating Officer of UMG, and will continue to oversee all of UMG’s mobile operations. However, he will also be responsible for leading the implementation of the company’s digital strategy while working closely with all of UMG’s subsidiary labels and divisions, and exploring, developing and maximizing all of the new digital opportunities and business models emerging in the marketplace.

Universal Music Mobile (which Caraeff launched in 2005) has sold over 200 million mobile music units to date and its business has expanded more than 200 percent.
