Aussie TigerSpike Signs $250K Deal With DMGT

Australian company TigerSpike has signed a deal with British publishing giant DMGT to manage the mobile efforts of its free paper Metro — this wwill allow readers to submit photos and video clips from their mobile phones to the newspaper’s website, and also view the website on their handsets and download content from there. TigerSpike has quite a few Australian customers, but this is its first major overseas deal.

“It’s basically tapping into the social networking ideas that people are very excited about at the moment. Users can personalise the look at feel of the content as it comes in, as well as customise the look and feel of the site. It aims to make the Metro a destination for Londoners as opposed to just somewhere to read the news. We’re pitching for more of the newspaper group’s business, it’s looking like in the region of well over half a million dollars,” said TigerSpike chief operating officer and founder Oliver Palmer. The deal is worth AU$250,000 (US$207,000) and the company is pitching for the mobile business of other papers in the DMGT group.
