It’s easy to find ‘switcher’ articles just about everywhere on the web these days. You know what I mean: long-time Windows users switch to Mac OS X. Yes, James and I each purchased MacBook Pros recently, but I wouldn’t classify us as ‘switchers’ since we continue to primarily use Tablet PCs and UMPCs.
This article by Nik Cubrilovic puts a twist on the switch: Nik installed Boot Camp on his Mac hardware so he could run Windows Vista. After just 24 hours of use, he’s convinced that Vista is a better choice for him and he outlines the reasons in this well written piece. In the end, an OS and the hardware it runs on has to work for you, so this isn’t a ‘political’ piece, but it’s interesting to see one of the few switchers flip over to Windows. Also worthy of mention is that Nik isn’t seeing any performance issues with Vista; contrary to what we’ve heard many times and have recently discussed when looking at battery life. Twenty-four hours with a configured device isn’t really enough time to get a thorough feel for performance, so let’s see if Nik does any follow ups with empirical evaluations.
