Etisalat Gains 100,000 Mobile TV Subscribers In 2 Months

This is not a bad result…UAE telco Etisalat has attracted 100,000 subscribers to its 3G mobile TV service within 2 months of launch, reports People’s Daily Online. The service costs Dh39 per month (which is about US$10.62 per month) and offers 14 Arabic and English channels to its mobile TV subscribers, including al-Arabiya TV, BBC World, al-Jazeera and Dubai Sports. Etisalat registered 5.78 million mobile phone users at the end of March, but it’s unclear how many of those are 3G customers. This is particularly impressive because (as far as I know) there was no big event to draw in subscribers, such as 3 Italia got when Italy made it to the finals of the FIFA World Cup.
