Mobile Games Round-Up: Face Tracking, Brain Games, Bollywood

–Genemation has released a game/application using the cameras on many handsets called GenMobile, which includes real-time facial feature tracking and can be used variously for games, photo sharing and social networking. “Images of people can be manipulated to look older or of a different ethnicity, and there are also full facial morphing possibilities, where photographed faces can be merged or blended with those of celebrities or other famous figures,” reports Pocketgamer.

The Guardian has a round-up of brain-training games, which are becoming more popular. My favorite quote: “It’s another collection of challenges and mini-games designed to make your brain work – although to be honest, attempting to configure your handset to send picture messages or receive email will probably have a similar effect.”

–The mobile game industry is getting excited over Bollywood, with Indian developers signing up stars to make games based on their films and their lives, reports Sahara Samay. Apparently “only 40 per cent of a Bollywood film’s earnings come from the box office. The rest come from music, DVD and mobile phone ring-tone sales”, and it’s almost certain mobile games will add another significant revenue stream to the mix.
