Interesting Samsung news out of Impress via Engadget: a 1.8-inch drive with high capacity of 100- or 120 GB. From the looks of a presentation slide, the Spinpoint N2 series appears to be a low power consumer: .8 Watts for reads but just .07 Watts when idle. Part of the power savings has to be related to the spinrate: these will 3,600 or 4,200 RPM drives. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these available as Samsung Q1 Ultra options; it appears that Samsung hasn’t quite abandoned traditional hard drives for Solid State Disk flash drives just yet.
