Earnings: KDDI Reports US$2.5 Billion Full-Year Profit

Japanese operator KDDI has reported that its group operating profit surpassed 300 billion yen ($2.5 billion) for the first time ever in fiscal 2006 (ending March 31st), based on a strong growth in subscriber numbers to grab 29 percent of the Japanese market, reports Telecom Asia.

–KDDIs financial highlights show that 75 percent of its revenues come from its mobile segment, with full-year revenues coming in at 2,677 billion yen (US$22.56 billion), a year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent. Data ARPU per month came in at 2,060 yen (US$17.36), a growth of 1.5 percent sequentially.

–53 percent of KDDI’s users are on its WIN brand, which is its CDMA 1x EV-DO network.
