Here is an update on Bharti Airtel‘s IPTV launch. India’s largest private sector telco is expected to launch its first full-fledged IPTV service in Gurgaon, Haryana, by the end of 2007. Bharti had started IPTV trails in Gurgaon a year ago. Following Gurgaon, Bharti will launch services in the entire National Capital Region (Delhi and suburbs) by March 31, 2008, reports The Financial Express, quoting Atul Bindal, president of broadband & telephone services, Bharti Airtel.
Bharti is currently working content partnerships. It’s looking at content creation in three areas — education and learning, entertainment. Bharti has a broadband base of 0.65 million subscribers.
The two public sector telecom companies, MTNL and BSNL, have already started IPTV services. Reliance Communications is another major telco planning to start IPTV service.
