Airport Extreme Base Station problem solved

Airport_utilityI detailed a strange problem I have been having with my new Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) and asked for help figuring out why my Fujitsu Tablet PC running Vista Ultimate was having trouble connecting to the Internet.  I had to connect to the AEBS via Ethernet first to get to the Internet after which I could continue reaching the web wirelessly, but it wouldn’t get to the web wirelessly without wiring up first.  I got a lot of good advice but it turns out the solution came from Apple.  I went to the Apple support web site and found a software update for the AEBS that when applied updates the firmware for the router.  In fact this new version of the Airport Utility software, version 2007-001, adds a feature that auto-checks for firmware updates when you run the admin utility.  I applied the update, ran the Airport Utility program and it updated the router firmware.  I haven’t failed to make a wireless connection yet on the Fuji so it seems the firmware update fixed my problem, at least so far.  Windows users note there is an update for you too.  Apple is very vague about the issues addressed with this software update:
