Industry Moves: Kint To CBS SportsLine From Sporting News; Spiers Leaves Dead Horse Media

CBS Sportsline: This announcement actually caused a double take … Jason Kint leaves The Sporting News after 11 years to become SVP/GM of CBS SportsLine. Kint most recently was VP/GM of TSN’s online division, key to the growth of digital with initiatives including fantasy sports and social networking. He succeeds Steve Snyder, who was promoted recently to COO, CBS Interactive and to whom he will report. Kint will oversee programming, product development, marketing, technology and general administration. This is like signing a roleplayer from your own division — it adds to your team, takes away from the immediate competition. (Maybe we should start a fantasy online publishing league?)

Dead Horse Media: Co-founder Elizabeth Spiers is leaving the blog network over a split with investors about the company’s direction, according to Jon Fine. Blogs in the small network include Dealbreaker, AboveTheLaw and Fashionista. According to an email Spiers sent to Fine, the investors, who include Dennis Publishing’s Justin Smith, want to concentrate on further developing its stable of blogs, while Spiers wanted to expand the company’s website creations to something more “experimental.” In the meantime, Fine writes, Dead Horse is still deciding what to do with moribund “C-level” site Supermogul.
