The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has allocated CDMA operators spectrum in the 1900 Mhz to test 3G services, reports the Economic Times. Spectrum has been allocated in the 1900 Mhz band, which GSM players complain could interfere with their allocated spectrum of 2100 Ghz. The test, however, is deemed meaningless by COAI director general TV Ramachandran; field trials have not been permitted.
Earlier this month, DS Mathur, Secretary of the DoT had said that the 3G policy is likely to be announced by end of April.
