Industry Moves: Netflix Taps ReplayTV Founder to Head Internet TV Group

Netflix has been making slow moves into online video, after launching its movie service earlier this year: it has named Anthony Wood, the creator and founder of early DVR company ReplayTV, as the company’s first VP of Internet TV. He will be responsible for all aspects of product development related to the company’s initiatives in delivering movies from the Internet to the TV. Wood founded ReplayTV, an early TiVo competitor acquired by SonicBlue in 2001. He later founded Roku, which made home digital media devices.
Interesting to see how Netflix chooses to bring movies to the TV, that is, which box and technology would they use. Maybe the fabled Netflix-Tivo deal will now come back.
More details in release.
