The Economic Times has a profile on the mobile content company Nazara Technologies, a firm which has mobile rights to cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Mahendra Dhoni. Some key points: Nazara is expected to close its second round of funding of about Rs 32 crore ($7-8 million) this month. The name of the venture capital funds are unknown. Nazara had earlier raised about $1.5 million from Sequoia Capital India. Even though the content companies continue to get squeezed in by the operators and also the right owners, certain VCs seem to be positive on the sector.
Nazara has also revealed its sales numbers in the article.
It says the company has registered sales of Rs 15 crore ($3.4 million) for the year ended on March 2007. Apparently, it will clock sales of Rs 35 crore in 2007-08. Ambitious indeed.
