Adlabs Films-Owned Big FM To Venture Into Mobile Content

Big FM, the radio business owned by Adlabs Films, is venture into providing audio content to mobile users. “Our company will generate unique audio content to different mobile operators or mobile companies,” Big FM 92.7 COO Tarun Katial told PTI (Via The Economic Times).
It could be ringtones, alarm tones or audio that is embedded in the handset. They also plan to create unique content through their radio jockeys as well as listeners – can be anything from a weirdest laugh to a poem. According to Katial, radio is “much larger than video blogging or Internet blogging”, and they want to ride on this advantage. Big FM has won licences to operate services in 45 stations in India.
Nikhil adds:
Katiyal tells Business Standard that he expects VAS to contribute at least 10 percent to overall turnover. As per ET, the company is planning to launch a Music label, and leveraging RCom’s distribution network for Internet and Mobile content. Adlabs is also producing and exhibiting films.
So that gives the Reliance ADA group ownership across the music and films value chain – from production to distribution and exhibition. That doesn’t augur too well for the competitive scenario.
