College-age social net startup has RIPL has raised $2 million in first round funding, Alarm Clock reported (via PEHub). At the moment, the Seattle-based company is in closed beta and is only available to students at the University of Washington and University of Central Florida. And in what might be a Catch-22, even students at those colleges interested in joining will require an invitation from someone who’s already signed up with RIPL. The site will also offer ad-supported photo and music sharing.
The company is headed by CEO Bill Messing who has held VP positions at United Online and Classmates Online. He was also a director for MSN.
