Verizon Backing Away From “Unlimited Data” Claim

Verizon Wireless has spent years pushing its EV-DO data service as “unlimited” when it quite clearly wasn’t (something that is common throughout the telco world, actually). Then they’d cut off a user for going over the unstated limit and say that it was only unlimited for certain types of data. Now Techdirt is reporting that Verizon is “backing away from the unlimited claim, and is now putting the 5gig limit into the terms of service”…they still use it in press releases, but avoid using it in advertising. As more and more people use data services carriers are going to have to be honest and clear with their claims, or face a potential backlash.
