Hello FM Ties Up With Techzone For Mobile Content Downloads

Hello FM, part of Malar Publications which also owns the newspaper The Daily Thanthi, has tied up with mobile content provider 6060Techzone. The service allows listeners of Hello FM to download ringtones for the song that is currently being played on air, by SMSing O to 6060. 6060 intends to launch a similar picture message service next, and then MP3s. Currently, Hello FM has a radio station in Chennai, but Techzone has signed a revenue sharing deal with them for 10 radio stations. I was wondering how they’d deal with a delay in message delivery, in case the song on air changes. M. Naveen Bhandari of tells me that they’re able to detect the time at which the message was sent, and send the corresponding song back.
