easyHotel.com Announces India Plans

Hotel rooms aggregator easyHotel.com has announced its plans for India. The low-cost hotel chain, which has investment from Dubai’s Istithmar Hotels, will build six properties in India to start with. The company has a web-based booking engine, and the customers get the advantage of dynamic pricing on the basis of how early they book – just like the low cost travel business. They also provide third party booking services. The room tariff usually start at $50 a night.
At a press conference in Mumbai, Joe Sita, CEO of Istithmar Hotels, announced that they are investing more than $400 million over the next five years, to build 38 easyHotel.com properties in 17 countries, with six properties planned for India alone. easyHotel.com’s arrival can boost the web-based hotel booking market in India.
Currently, travel portals in India are looking to expand their hotel room booking and holiday packages business. Unlike easyHotel.com, they don’t own the properties but sell unsold inventory from the hotel owners.
