Sunil Nair, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of Nautanki.tv Online informs us that the company has tied up with Reliance Communications to make its the channel Soul Curry from its video media network ‘Nautanki.tv‘ available on Reliance Mobile World. Furthermore, Nair informs us that that Nautanki.tv Online has received around Rs. 1 crore in angel investment from Mumbai based investment bankers.
Nautanki has so far signed up around 25 independent content providers on a revenue sharing basis, to create original content for their channels. The company is currently in the process of creating a video media network, which allows Internet properties to syndicate their channels. Nair says that they already serve feeds to over a hundred such web properties (two of them here and here), and are targeting 5000 by the middle of the year. Offline, they are also sharing their content with Ad Impact, which has around 500 LCD screens in elevator lobbies. The channels serve video ads based on publisher demographics, and as per Nair, they already have ads from STAR, ZEE, Microsoft and DirecTV.
So, in terms of distribution, that’s the Google adsense model- this time supported by video content. Once the distribution network is established, content will be key for Nautanki.tv – that will keep viewers watching, and publishers happy. Question is, can professional content from Nautanki.tv compete online with user generated content from the likes of YouTube?
