Amp’d Launches Spongebob Squarepants Channel

Amp’d has signed deals with Viacom subsidiaries MTV and Nickelodean to launch a couple of new video channels. In the second quarter Amp’d TV will launch a Spongebob Squarepants channel which will have full length episodes from the series, which at first glance is an odd fit for Amp’d’s target audience of 18-35 year olds. However, Nielsen data shows that of the nearly 67.2 million viewers to the show each month 32.8 million are adults over 18. I’m guessing relatively few of those are parents watching with their kids…
The Nickelodean Mobile on Amp’d Live channel will include several short form clips of 30-120 seconds from Nickelodean and The N, SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Fairly OddParents, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Catscratch, as well as tween live action hits Just Jordan and Drake and Josh, which will refresh on a weekly basis. From The N, content will include short form clips, behind-the-scenes content, sneak peaks and webisodes from shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation, Instant Star, South of Nowhere, and Beyond the Break.
