Global Mobile Content Revenue Was $16.4 Billion In 2006 — iSuppli

Although voice ARPU fell by an average of 5 percent for the 13 key global wireless carriers profiled by iSuppli’s Mobile Multimedia service in 2006, the analysts estimate the global premium mobile content market rose 22 percent, from $13.4 billion in 2005 to $16.4 billion in 2006, reports MediaCaster Magazine. –The mobile music market (including ringtones, ringtunes, full-track downloads, streaming and ringback tones) was $7.1 billion in 2006, and iSuppli predicts the market will grow to $17.6 billion by 2011. By this year full-track downloads are predicted to be the largest segment at $5.7 billion.
–Total mobile video revenue will expand to $17.6 billion by 2011, maintaining a CAGR of 76.7 percent from just $1 billion in 2006. This segment includes streaming and download revenue, as well as mobile television.
–Mobile gaming revenue reached $2.3 billion in 2006, growing 27 percent from 2005.
