Last November we had a post about NBCU planning 1,000 hours of live streaming online with the next Olympics. Now USAT has some follow up. “The vast majority will be stuff that’s never been seen (on TV) before,” says NBC Sports Chairman Dick Ebersol. “Every single sport will be available, the vast majority in their totality.” Ebersol says Olympic viewers shouldn’t expect to pay. “That’s up to our final deal-making. But in the main, if not totally, it will be free.”
I was planning on planting myself in London for the duration of the Olympics to be able to watch BBC’s TV and online coverage, rather than suffer through the frustratingly U.S.-focused coverage that NBC had done over the years. Now, well, thank you NBC…just let the sports talk for themselves.
Also, please please, be patient with Friday Night Lights, the best show on TV. Please let it be.
