Yahoo India is apparently scouting for a travel partner to offer travel-related services including booking on its portal, reports Business Standard. The company is in talks with a few players, and a deal is expected soon, says the report. The launch of the services is expected in the next couple of months.
George Zacharias, MD, Yahoo India, told BS: “We want to be in this space and we should be finalising our partner pretty soon.”
The report also quotes industry sources as saying that Yahoo can take an equity stake in a travel portal. It had done a similar deal with Bharat Matrimony group, where the Internet giant invested along with Canaan Partners. But there is no certainty of an equity deal in this case. Yahoo has already launched fare search in beta (Yahoo FareChase)
Yahoo India also has tie-up with eBay in India to offer shopping services.
