Comedy Central Racing Ahead, South Park Starts Gaming With Mobile

southparkgameThe New York Times has a panegyric to Viacom’s cable channel Comedy Central, and its success compared with broadcast TV…its ratings have increased for 12 months in a row. Its cutting edge comedy shows appeal to a young male audience (some of the audiences for its shows are more than 70 percent male), and coincidentally are the type that tend to work on mobile phones. As part of that one of the channel’s biggest hits South Park has been converted into a mobile game — the first time the franchise has jumped into the gaming world. I think it makes sense — the audience for South Park is similar to the demographic with heavy mobile phone usage, and the show can sell more games at $5-10 than it can at $20-50. The demographic also plays consoles, but the expectation for console games are a lot higher…
E! Entertainment Television will launch its first mobile trivia game based on the network’s signature documentary series, The E! True Hollywood Story, reports Broadcast Newsroom.
